What is the process?


So you want an office fitout? See below the process -

1 - Register with Fitout Builders (this only takes approximately 10 minutes).

2 – Meet on site with one of our consultants to discuss and confirm your office fitout requirements.

3 – Drawings and scope of works are finalised and approved by you ready for quoting.

4 – Your job is quoted by 3 qualified and verified Builders.

5 – Receive and review your 3 quotes. Note that the quotes all have the same layout so it is quick and easy to compare.

6 – Select your builder and you are ready to go!


How to get started


Go to fitoutbuilders.com and click Start Here.picture

Answer 5 quick questions to get your project underway.

Question 3 asks you to tell us what areas you require for your fitout. Select areas by clicking on the area icons.
When selected a red number will appear.

Click the area twice if you want to select 2 of the one area.
Click the red number to reduce number.

You will then receive a Welcome to Fitout Builders email. Open this email and Verify Account.

This will direct you to a page to create your password and finalise your registration with Fitout Builders.


Project Status Bar


After setting up your password you will be taken to your project dashboard.
At the top of the page you will see a status bar telling you the current status of your project.
There are six stages to this process.

Project areas


This is an optional step.

You can Submit My Project now for a consultant to call you to arrange a site visit and complete your project areas for you.

Or you can have a go at setting up your areas and adding items to your areas. Great to do if you want furniture as part of your fitout.

Feel free to have a play, you are not locked in to any choices you make here as your consultant will review with you during your site visit.

How to set up your project areas


The areas you selected during the registration process are shown here. You can:

Each area consists of a set of tabs with furniture, walls (N, S, E & W), floor and ceiling.
Each tab contains options for you to add items to that area.
Feel free to have a play, you are not locked in to any choices you make here as your consultant will review with you during your site visit.
At any time you can Submit My Project now for a consultant to call you to arrange a site visit.

How to add furniture to an area


To add furniture, select the furniture tab for the appropriate area. Here you can add chairs, desks, credenzas, filing cabinets, cupboards and workstations.
To add a chair:

  • Click chair icon image.
  • Browse through the range of chairs until you find the chair you would like to add.
  • Click on the quantity number or > to update quantity required.
  • Click Save and Close icon.
  • The green number shows how many items you have selected.
  • Press the icon again at any stage to show selected item(s) or edit/add items.
TIP: The show selected items is a shortcut way of viewing the items already selected.

How to add items to walls in an area


To add items to walls, select either the N E S or W wall tab for the appropriate area.
Here you can add partitions, doors, frosting, light switches, window coverings and more.
To add a door on the north wall:

  • Click N tab, then click Door icon image.
  • Browse through the range of doors until you find the door you would like to add.
  • Click on the quantity number or > to update quantity required.
  • Click Save and Close icon.
  • The green number shows how many items you have selected.
  • Press the icon again at any stage to show selected item(s) or edit/add items.
TIP: The show selected items is a shortcut way of viewing the items already selected.

How to add flooring items to an area


To add flooring items, select the floor tab for the appropriate area.
Here you can add carpet, vinyl, tiles and more.
To add carpet tiles:

  • Click carpet tiles icon image.
  • Browse through the range until you find the carpet tiles you would like to add.
  • Click on the quantity number or > to update quantity required.
  • Click Save and Close icon.
  • The green number shows how many items you have selected.
  • Press the icon again at any stage to show selected item(s) or edit/add items.

How to add ceiling items to an area


To add ceiling items, select the ceiling tab for the appropriate area.
Here you can add plaster ceiling, suspended ceiling grid, access hatches, lighting, insulation and more.
To add lights:

  • Click lighting icon image.
  • Browse through the range until you find the light you would like to add.
  • Click on the quantity number or > to update quantity required.
  • Click Save and Close icon.
  • The green number shows how many items you have selected.
  • Press the icon again at any stage to show selected item(s) or edit/add items.
TIP: The show selected items is a shortcut way of viewing the items already selected.

Default items


We have started you off with a list of default items that would normally be associated with each area.

For example we assume a new disabled toilet will need grabrails, toilet suite, signage etc so these items are pre-populated for you. You can remove or edit these items if you wish.

To remove default item –

  • Click on the icon image with the green number
  • Check the Show selected items checkbox
  • Change quantity to zero
  • Click Save and Close icon

Project summary


My Project Summary details your project scope based on the items selected in Project Areas.
This will list everything selected for furniture, walls, floors and ceilings.

Project files


Project Files contain all of the up to date drawings and files for your project. You can access these files at any time.

These include:

  • User drawing documents
  • Final construction drawings
  • Building permit documentation

How to submit your project


Submit your project at any stage using the Submit My Project button.

The project status bar will then move to stage 2 and Fitout Builders will start working on your project.

What happens next?

A Fitout Builder consultant will be in touch to arrange to meet with you on site to confirm all of your project requirements.

Stage 2 - Fitout builders started working on your project


Below are the steps for Stage 2

Stage 3 Project ready for builder selection


When the drawings and scope of works are approved, you will receive an email notifying you that your project is ready for quoting.

Press the Arrange quotes now button to select your builder for quoting.

You have the option of selecting the builders who will quote your job yourself or you can let Fitout Builders choose the builders for you.

I will select my own Builders

You may want to select your own builders from our database.

You can browse our directory of builders or search for the ones you want. If you only have 1 or 2 to select, that’s fine as we will select the others for you.

Select at least one builder from the list and click Request quotes now.

Your project status will now move to stage 4 - Waiting for builder quotes.

Stage 4 Waiting for Builder quotes


Now it’s the waiting game, the 3 builders selected have 7 days to complete their quotes. Note this timeframe may extend for larger jobs and you will be kept informed if the timeframe changes.

You will receive an email notification when the quotes are ready for review.

How to view your 3 quotes

You will get an email notification when your 3 quotes are ready for review.

To respect the efforts of all the builders who quoted your job, please complete your review and select your preferred builder within 3 business days.

To view your quotes, either click on the link in your email or login in to your dashboard.

Stage 5 Builders quotes ready


Fitout Builders allow you to easily compare quotes from the 3 builders.
All quotes are provided in the same format and layout so it is easy to review and compare.

You can view the builders directory information by clicking on their business name.


You can view the builders qualifications, accreditations and business documents by clicking "more info about the builder"

Click the down arrow to get itemised details of each area.

How to select a Builder

Below the items in the quote are the quote terms.

Click the down arrow to expand each section.

Be sure to also read the Notice from builder.

Click Accept This Quote to select this builder.

Stage 6 Quote awarded


After you accept your quote, the status moves to stage 6 – quote awarded.

You will see the details of the builder you selected and get an email with their contact details.

The successful builder will make contact with you usually within 3 business days to discuss scheduling your project.

How to set up an additional project


So you have another fitout project to do. Great! To set up another fitout project -

Go to My Projects and select New Project in the top right to get going on your next project.

How to change your email notification settings


You can change the way we communicate via email with you at anytime.

Go into your profile by clicking on your credentials in the top right of the screen.

Select Profile and then Profile Details. Scroll down the page until you see Notification Settings.

Making changes to your project after you have your 3 builders quotes.


You can make last minute changes to your project after you have received the 3 quotes from the builders.
We understand that circumstances can change quickly.

Pressing the orange request additional scope of work changes button at the end of the quote page will trigger this change request process.
You will be asked to give us some details about the changes that you require made. The consultant will be in contact to confirm what is required also.

In this case, the consultant needs to make the changes to the project scope that you require and then re send it to you for your approval.

This then goes out again to the same 3 builders, who will then re-quote your project for you.

This change process can take about 5-7 days in total.
